Nutheim Gjestgiveri is a small, family-run, wooden hotel
in the heart of the countyof Telemark in southern
Norway, with longstanding traditions in accommodating
travellers who are looking for a meal or a room for the
night.
We offer you a heartfelt welcome whether you're just
popping in for a cup of coffee, fancy a delicious
home-cooked meal, are looking for a place to spend the
night, attending a painting course, or want to organise
a party.
The art is paramount for us. The hotel's walls are
covered by paintings and drawings by visiting artists.
Here, in the picturesque landscape of Telemark, artists
have found inspiration for their artistic expressions
for more than a century.

History
The artist Erlend Grøstad arrived in Flatdal in 1946 and
later married Anne, who grew up at Nutheim. Together
they took over the running of the hotel and Erlend
established Nutheim Målarskule, the Painting School, in
1960. Both the hotel and the Painting School are currently run
by their daughter - the painter and sculptor Ellen
Grøstad Barstad and her family. The hotel has been
within the family since 1917.
